Why is this a bad topic for kids? The majority of Disney movies involve a relationship. It’s not like they’d make a movie full of rampant sex and boobies, and if you think a lesbian movie couldn’t NOT have these things, you’ve got a pretty close minded view of lesbians….
and the only reasons kids don’t ‘understand what that means’ is because nobody wants to teach them due to bigoted beliefs. They think even mentioning gays to children will ‘ruin’ their kids. Remember:
you can be born gay. You get taught to hate and condemn others.

The world isn’t ready for a gay character.
You guys remember when “The Princess and the Frog” came out and everyone freaked out over the heroine being black? Even after 30+ of equality between races, there were still some stingy people who wouldn’t accept the fact that Tiana is black.
Imagine that contraversy being 100x worse if Disney were to introduce a lesbian princess right now, despite the positive message they would be trying to tell children. It would be awful.
Also, there are certain types of households who teach their children that homosexuality is a terrible thing…because of that, I doubt they’d let their children watch a movie that featured a gay character, no matter what company created it.
Example: A dear friend of mine was told by her family—at a very young age—that witchcraft and magic and such are “OMG SO TERRIBLE!”, so she was never allowed to watch any Disney movies nor read books such as Harry Potter that featured magic, until recently. It’s stupid, but there are overly-protective families like that who will probably murder the Disney company if a gay character were introduced.

But…but…did anyone make a stink about Mulan? She was ASIAN.
My family tried to protect me from witchcraft as well. I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the summer of second grade when I went up to my Godmother’s. My mother found out and flipped her lid.
Kids should be introduced to having a gay character in it. Perhaps not the princess ehrself, but maybe the prince. Like, the princess could really like this one prince, but…it turns out he likes dicks instead. And then it’s kind of awkward, but then they become best friends and then she ends up having a kid for him and his new gay lover who’s like the gardener boy or something.
Okay. Maybe not that. Maybe Dreamworks could work in something with that, though.
I heard somewhere that Disney signed some liability forms at some point during the beginning of the company saying they couldn’t do anything that upset the balance and promoted wrong-thinking or something like that, and I think having a gay princess might fall under that, but I don’t know.
